The D0VE-C heads are standard "N" code heads with the smaller ports and valves. They are still a desirable early model cyl. head as they feature smaller combustion chambers and factory screw-in studs.These two reasons alone make it obvious why Ford returned to the closed chamber head with the introduction of the D3VE. The D3VE's chamber CC is very close to that of the D2VE's chamber (keeps compresison ratio down), but the shape makes for both a better mixture motion and a shorter flame travel. Would anyone know the approximate compression of a 460 using a replacement 460 pistons (1973-1979) with a set of DOVE heads? The engine now has D3VE heads and is probably in the range of 7.5:1--8.0:1 compression. I figure losing almost 20cc in the combustion chamber should maybe bump compression into the 9.0:1+ range.
