My top choice for spectres all around is: Fire Ribbons - they kick butt try it (give your spectres lmp or gmp) Tentacle Monstrosity - again, you must try these (and lol) Carrion Queen - easily my first choice. They are beefy and do great damage. Other things I use on occasion are things that cast curses. I expect that is just a laziness thing.I'd go onslaught charm like the other person said. Right now, with 5 specters: Tiger for Haste, Thunderbird for Grace, Warlord for endurance charges, Judgemental Spirit for skeletons buff and Hydra. As far as I got it right, Naval's fortify does not stack with Kingmaker, precision is better to have on yourself.

Preachers have highest dps. Use divergent haste for clear. Scales of Esh are amazing. You can get them from Esh breaches if you are quick at raising the corpse. i tried a Sire of Shards with the wraiths as spectres (4 total) and the phantasm on kill support to maximize synergy. i also ran with skeletons and maim to further boost phys dmg from all 3 sources (wraiths, phantasm and skeleton): Sire of Shards: Raise Spectre - Minion Damage - Controlled Destruction - Spell Echo - Phantasm on Kill - Faster Proj.Level with skeletons or SRS. 2x Carnage Chieftain with later addition of 1x Host Chieftain as you get to act 7.
