Some have begun to use the term “Chicanx” in order to ungender the term “Chicano.”. This term is far less problematic than “Latinx” ever will be, as it recognizes our roots as an Indigenous people. After all, it’s not the “X” that is the cause for concern, it’s the “Latin” part that denies our cultural inheritance..
