I've started curating a list of home automation ideas. Most of it so far is based upon the things I've actually built around the house, or want to build soon. And I just put these first ~100 ideas together this morning, so it's still growing/being refined. There are tutorials for many of the ideas, though not all..

This is a huge one that lots of people underestimate when they go for the DIY home automation. You can go with software based systems like Home Assistant, OpenHAB, HomeSeer, Allonis MyServer, CQC, Indigo, see there's options. Just don't run them on a rPi and expect reliability or performance. Specifically I can only set sensitivity and direction with Zigbee2MQTT which in turn does nothing to fix my issue with the FP1 detecting a spinning fan in my pc and keeping presence occupied 100% of the time regardless of placement.
