Community is a buzzword, but it's easier said than done. And often it's more talked about than it is practiced. As I've worked to develop community, I've learned that there are a few things every strong community needs: Intentionality. Community has to be intentional. Even if it starts organically, it still has to be maintained.Self-advocacy includes you as the advocate. You are the one who stands up for yourself. You know your needs and defend your rights, and you promote your beliefs, interests, and feelings. With self-advocacy, you can be assertive. You can make your own decisions, since you are responsible for your life’s choices. 2.
