I would definitely recommend calling the Litter Robot support team - they were really helpful when I called with frequent cat sensor faults a few months after getting our litter robot 3 - they recommended filling it less than I have been - suggesting it may do better 1/2" or 1" BELOW the fill line - apparently with different weights of litters, they've found filling up to the line or ... letmebreathedammit. My kittens also take some of the rankest shits I have ever smelled in my life, and I've found that adding a little baking soda to their litter and to the waste bin helps tremendously.
