Tuzoia was first described by Charles Walcott (1912) based on a single carapace specimen from the Burgess Shale. He collected many more specimens after this publication that were later described in detail by Resser (1929). Museum-quality original Chengjiang-type fossil specimen of Arthropod Tuzoia is an extinct genus of large bivalved arthropod . The structure of the carapace, the large eyes and the wide distribution suggest that Tuzoia was a free swimmer, moving in the upper part of the water column. It is possible that it shared habitat with other large swimming arthropods, such as Isoxys and Zhenghecaris ...PubMed

Tuzoia is a large bivalved arthropod having a wide geographic distribution in the strata of the Cambrian Series 2 and 3. One species, Tuzoia bispinosa, is known from abundant material in the Kaili Biota (Cambrian Series 3, Stage 5).Based on 168 specimens from near Balang Village, Jianhe County, Guizhou Province, China, six ontogenetic stages of this species can be distinguished.Tuzoia is a relatively common non-biomineralized bivalved arthropod from the Guanshan Biota and, stratigraphically, ranges from Cambrian Series 2 through the Miaolingian Series. Based on new specimens from the Longbaoshan Section of the Wulongqing Formation, this study distinguished and described in detail the Tuzoia in the Guanshan Biota.
