Since Naim have recently given the player a clean bill of health, and you have replaced the puck, I would suggest replacing the CD. If it plays fine, your old CD (s) is the problem. Throw it away. If the new CD skips, especially in the same place, your player may be at fault. Talk to Naim.I have NEVER had a CD player have problems due to external light sources, EVEN with the player all apart being worked on under the lights so to speak. Now I have had one CD player that failed to track the last track on ONE & ONLY ONE specific CD when directly trying to play just that one track. BUT it would play all the way through to the end.

It sounds like when it burned the CD it burned it with MP3 files vs. the actual WAV file that is needed. Most boom boxes don't support MP3's.
