June, 2012.Supersymmetry is a theoretical framework in physics that suggests the existence of a symmetry between particles with integer spin and particles with half-integer spin ().It proposes that for every known particle, there exists a partner particle with different spin properties. This symmetry has not been observed in nature. If confirmed, it could help …High Energy Physics. Delepine, David Physics Department, Guanajuato University, Loma del Bosque 103, col. High Energy Physics studies the fundamental building blocks of nature and the interactions that govern their behaviors. These building blocks include quarks, leptons, and bosons and are described by the Standard Model of particles physics. The Standard Model provides a theoretical framework and is one of the most successful theories ever devised. In the study of physics, energy is defined as the capacity to do work. That energy or force is measured in units called joules. Work involves the application of force on an object that causes movement across a distance. And since energy and frequency are directly proportional, the trend we describe using energy will be the same for frequency. Higher energy light such as gamma rays, X-rays, and high energy UV light cause ionizations. They transfer enough energy to electrons so they can escape from the pull of the atom’s nucleus and turn the atom into an ion.ABOUT OUR RESEARCH. Experimental research in particle physics at UT Austin is done by members of the Center for Particles and Fields. The program includes cutting-edge experiments in four areas: proton-proton collisions at the highest available energy at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), relativistic heavy-ion collisions at the CERN LHC, neutrino experiments at Fermilab and in an ...
