Dec 4, 2009 · Now for my advertising: I make a special valve cover for adjusting SBC (small block Chevy) hydraulic lifters I call the “Adjust-A-Cover”. EVERYONE that has bought one will tell you that it is the cat’s nuts way to adjust SBC hydraulic lifters. I stock the tall version of an Adjust-A-Cover and it costs $35 plus shipping. Valves. The original Chevy 265-ci small-block began life actuating diminutive 1.72- and 1.50-inch intake and exhaust valves. In the evolution of the small-block, now displacing as much as 454 inches out of a standard deck height block, these big-bore small-blocks can now accommodate up to impressive 2.150- and 1.625-inch valve sizes.
